Your heart rate, straight from your Watch.

Watch HRM BLE sends live heart rate from Apple Watch to a compatible Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) heart-rate receiver. The connection goes directly from Watch to receiver, without an iPhone relay.

Pre-release: Watch HRM BLE is being tested through an internal TestFlight beta. The instructions and tested-device list below describe the current pre-release app; there is no public download yet.

Get connected

Pair a heart-rate receiver

  1. Open Watch HRM BLE on your Apple Watch, tap Start, and grant the requested Health access.
  2. On your bike computer or training app, open its heart-rate sensor pairing screen and search for a Bluetooth heart-rate sensor.
  3. Select Watch HRM BLE if it appears. Check that the receiver shows a changing heart-rate value. The Watch’s “Connected” status means a receiver subscribed; confirm the value on the receiver itself.
  4. When you finish, open Controls on the Watch, choose End broadcast, and confirm.

Owner-tested through TestFlight

Wahoo ELEMNT ACE

On 25 September 2026, the developer confirmed TestFlight build 1.0 (4) on Apple Watch Ultra 4 with watchOS 27, paired with Wahoo ELEMNT ACE. Live heart rate, wrist-down/phone-off use, reconnect, and End all passed.

This result applies to that setup. Receiver firmware and test duration were not recorded, so it is not a timed endurance or battery result. A Mac diagnostic receiver also worked in earlier prototype tests.

Other BLE heart-rate receivers

Garmin Edge models with BLE heart-rate sensor support, Zwift on a BLE-capable host, other Wahoo models, and similar receivers are protocol-based expectations. They have not been tested with this app. Compatibility depends on the exact receiver, software, and Bluetooth support.

The app uses the standard Bluetooth Heart Rate Service. ANT+-only receivers are not supported. Watch HRM BLE is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Wahoo, Garmin, or Zwift.

Common questions

If pairing does not work

The receiver cannot find my Watch

Check that a broadcast session is running on the Watch and search from the receiver’s heart-rate sensor screen. Some devices support Bluetooth for phone sync but do not accept a BLE heart-rate sensor. Check the receiver’s manual for that specific feature.

Does the widget show live heart rate?

No. The optional Smart Stack widget shows the last saved reading and its age. It is a snapshot and may refresh later than the main app.

Need help or want to report a receiver result?

Tell us the Watch model, watchOS version, receiver model, and what happened. Please do not send heart-rate logs or other health data.
